This role would suit a seasoned Partner/ Principal who is wanting to make a change, a sole practitioner who is looking to transition back to a larger team or an experienced Senior Associate/ Special Counsel who is looking to step up to Partner.

About the Opportunity
Working closely with our Partnership who are spread across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, this role will provide you the opportunity to work in a highly skilled and fast-paced team with the good fortune of being gifted an established client base. As a Partner at FCB Workplace Law, you will provide pragmatic and technically accurate legal advice to clients in a timely manner and commit to the development of the business by primarily managing and expanding client matters and accounts. This involves developing and managing case files consistent with cost estimates, updating clients on progress of matters, acting as primary client contact and working with Law team members and our Finance team as needed to ensure proper billing.
As a Supervising Partner you will be responsible for the overall strategy, implementation of that strategy and quality control of accounts under your supervision whilst working with other members of the Law team to ensure a positive and collaborative team environment.
Essential job functions
Client Focused Activities/Client Matter Related Work
- To provide legal advice and representation in a professional, ethical and effective manner
- To provide quick turn around and high-quality output in oral and written communications
- To maintain and/or build upon a client base and practice in your specialist area including delegation to and the training of other legal staff
- Lead a team of 4 professionals in the Melbourne office
- Consistently demonstrate the ability to move into problem-solving mode on client matters
- Successfully run multiple accounts, including managing work plans, client expectations, and internal staffing and ensuring project is consistent with time and financial scope in the costs agreement.
Firm Wide Responsibilities
- Contributing to firm wide BD activities and events
- Drafting roundtable session handouts and case studies
- Meeting clients and hosting roundtables; discussing case studies with clients and answering queries/concerns.
- Contribute to publication articles: drafting thought leadership articles to submit to various magazines or publications.
- Attending fortnightly tech sessions – developing, preparing and running sessions on an as required basis.
- Work well with and demonstrate respect for colleagues at all levels and consistently contribute to a positive work environment.
- Mentor junior staff and play an active role in helping staff meet their performance benchmarks and development objectives.
- Identify new business opportunities, participate in new business opportunities and assist in drafting new business proposals.
- To be involved in such training, education, technical and personal development activities organised by FCB to meet the strategic goals of the firm.
- To work effectively within designated cell.
- To demonstrate a commitment to upholding the firm’s core values and behavioural standards.
The position of Salaried Partner will be client facing, and the successful candidate will need to be commercially minded, love intellectual challenge, not afraid of hard work and able to work independently and self-sufficiently. It is desirable that you will have completed at least 8+ years with a reputable law firm specializing in Workplace Law.

- 8+ Years PAE experience
- Outstanding technical knowledge
- Enterprise Bargaining and Industrial Disputes

- Policy and Procedure development;
- Representation to government;
- Experience with discrimination, general protections and unfair dismissal claims
- Termination advice and management.
